September Social Highlighted a Local Artist of National Importance
By Will Bellais

September’s First Saturday Social, hosted by David Pibel, brought FCN members and guests to his art-gallery of a home on the edge downtown Savannah.

David is an artist in his own right, with his hand sculpted figures.  He works in a wood medium, and he specializes in the male nude.  His home is also a fine gallery of gay oriented art.  Iron figures, sketches and water colors dominate the very pre-World War I house on Henry Street.

The summer heat subsided just a bit and sitting on the veranda after sunset was a great way to make the day.

Visiting the social were both women and men who have not had a chance to share the events of the summer.  Some traveled the waterways of southern France, while some devoted their time to working on the Savannah Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

Being a host to a social is lots of fun.  The host will receive a small honorarium for their effort and the gratitude of the GLBT community.  Thank about having a party at your house.  Just call the FCN Social chair, or at the gathering in October and November you are ready to “break the ice” and be a host with most in Savannah, GA.
